Wildlife & Gardens

Wildlife
The jungle here in Mal país is bustling with life; the amount of visual wildlife is truly extraordinary. Many of our guests have commented that they’ve seen more animals here than on trips to the Amazon.

In the hotel we get daily visits from howler monkeys, white face monkeys, racoons, coatis, ant eaters, squirrels, iguanas, geckos, agoutis, opossums, crabs, humming birds, parrots, eagles, toucans, butterflies, frogs, and the ever working leaf cutting ants!

It doesn’t end there; out at sea you can observe dolphins, manta rays, turtles, and even whales depending on the time of year.

So when you get here make sure to keep your eyes peeled!

Hotel Gardens
Dubbed “The Garden of Eden” by some of our guests due to the wealth of diverse species of tropical plants found within.

We have many types of fruit trees and flowers, hibiscus, orchids, birds of paradise, and ginger flowers.

The wide range of colours found in the gardens exotic flowers attracts many species of butterflies and humming birds, creating a very calming environment for you to enjoy.

At the heart of the garden you’ll find a gigantic almond tree which provides a welcoming shade over the pool at mid day and in the evening you’ll find your senses awoken by the heavenly scent of the jasmine trees wafting through the breeze.
